Heavy Metal L-Gaim

"Heavy Metal L-Gaim" is a 1984 anime series directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, with character and mecha designs by Mamoru Nagano, who later created "The Five Star Stories." The story is set in the Pentagona System, a solar system of five planets. The legendary emperor Oldna Poseidal, from the planet Gastogal, conquers each world one by one with his 24 Temple Knights. In 3975, he secures his final victory on the planet Mizum by defeating Kamon Walha V, leader of the Yaman Clan. Before his defeat, Kamon hides his heir, Kamon Myroad, on Mizum along with the legendary white mecha, L-Gaim. Fifteen years later, the now-adult Myroad-going by the name Daba Myroad-leads a rebellion to free the Pentagona System from Poseidal's rule.
