The Place Promised in Our Early Days

Hiroki Fujisawa and Takuya Shirakawa share two passions: their classmate Sayuri Sawatari and the towering Ezo Tower, which looms impossibly tall across the Tsugaru Strait. Drawn to the unreachable structure, they start building an airplane from a crashed drone they found-dubbing it the Bella Ciela-hoping to someday reach the tower's peak. When Sayuri joins them, the three make a promise to fly there together. But Japan is divided by conflict, with the tower marking the border between American-controlled southern islands and Soviet-occupied northern lands. Years later, Sayuri vanishes without a trace. Hiroki and Takuya don’t realize she’s fallen into a coma due to a mysterious sleeping sickness. When they eventually learn the truth, they uncover an eerie connection between her condition and the very tower they once vowed to conquer.
