Look Back
Ayumu Fujino is a fourth grader whose hand-drawn four-panel comics earn her plenty of praise in the school newspaper. But when she has to share the page with Kyoumoto-a quiet student she’s never met-Fujino suddenly feels like an amateur. Her loose, playful drawings look clumsy compared to Kyoumoto’s stunningly detailed artwork. For the next year, Fujino locks herself away, pouring over manga techniques and practicing nonstop, determined to match her mysterious rival. Yet no matter how hard she tries, Kyoumoto’s skill remains out of reach. Defeated, Fujino gives up drawing entirely. Another year goes by, and on graduation day, Fujino finally comes face-to-face with Kyoumoto-an awkward, soft-spoken girl who stammers through her words. To Fujino’s surprise, Kyoumoto turns out to have been her biggest fan all along. Their meeting rekindles Fujino’s love for art and marks the start of a long friendship, fueled by competition, mutual respect, and their deep passion for manga.
