Dai-chan, daisuki
Mai is the main character in this film. She has an older brother named Dai-Chan, who is deaf and relies on her like a younger sibling, always asking her to hold him up with a bright smile. One day, Mai's elementary school and Dai-Chan's school for the handicapped begin interacting. But instead of kindness, Mai's classmates mock her and draw a cruel caricature of Dai-Chan on the classroom blackboard. The bullying shocks and pains Mai. To make matters worse, their mother falls ill, forcing Dai-Chan to be sent to an orphanage for disabled children. Mai refuses to accept this and fights to take care of him herself. This is a story about family love, unbreakable bonds, and the connections between people. It reminds us of the warmth we all carry inside and the moments when we must act with sincerity. The film reflects on the essential things in life we should always hold close.
