Himari Kino is a bright, sociable girl who easily makes friends. On her first day of high school, she attends the freshman opening ceremony and is instantly smitten with Yori Asanagi, a quiet upperclassman, after seeing her perform with her band. Overcome with emotion, Himari confesses her feelings right after the show-but Yori, awkward and unfamiliar with romance, doesn’t know how to react. Caught off guard, Yori turns to her friends and music for guidance. She eventually responds to Himari’s confession, only to learn that Himari was drawn to her music and stage presence, not to Yori herself. Though shaken, Yori wants Himari to see her for who she really is. They start spending afternoons together on the school rooftop, where Yori plays her guitar, hoping to win Himari’s heart in a deeper way.
