Techno Police 21C
The story follows a hijacked MBT-99A tank-an unusual design by the U.S. Air Force, which later saves Eleanor by allowing her to eject before the tank explodes, much like a fighter jet. The tank itself is meant to be an object of fascination. At one point, when escape seems certain, the scene shifts to a surreal moment with cocktail-lounge jazz and shimmering lights surrounding the vehicle. The tank is armed with six ATGM launchers (three on each side of the turret),a laser-based machine-gun-like weapon, and a rifled main gun. Ken manages to remove some of these launchers, along with part of the turret, near the end. The tank also has dual-mounted treads, splitting into four sets for added mobility. The laser weapon proves impractical for a machine gun’s role, firing only once every few seconds-or at least never at a faster rate-while attempting to lock onto its target (Blader). This implies limited ammunition, unlike conventional tank machine guns with thousands of rounds. Its impact on the surroundings is minimal, raising questions about its effectiveness. Another tank, the MBT-90D, is deployed by the military (though it’s unclear if it’s the Army or Air Force, as the commanding general arrives in what looks like an ADATS). Despite sending at least a platoon of these tanks, they fail to stop the MBT-99. The MBT-90D has a three-barreled autocannon (likely 15-20mm in caliber),three ATGM launchers on the left side of its turret, and a front-mounted main cannon instead of a traditional turret. After the hijackers-a group hired by a foreign-backed shadow organization seeking military advantage-are forced out by Ken and his team, Eleanor boards the tank to examine it. However, it activates on its own, programmed by the hijackers to drive off a pier and rendezvous with an enemy submarine. The rest of the film centers on the chaotic chase through the city, leading to the destruction of another bank (owned by the same corporation as the first) and widespread collateral damage.
