Summer Wars

OZ, a vast virtual world linked to the internet, has grown into a global phenomenon where people use personalized avatars to do everything from playing sports to shopping. Its robust encryption makes it nearly unhackable, keeping users' data safe and secure. Thanks to its convenience, society has grown deeply reliant on OZ-even trusting it to guide the unmanned asteroid probe Arawashi back to Earth. Kenji Koiso, a 17-year-old math prodigy and part-time OZ moderator, gets an unexpected invitation from his crush, Natsuki Shinohara, to join her on a summer trip. What he doesn’t realize is that he’s expected to pose as her fiancé. Soon after arriving at Natsuki’s family home-where preparations are underway for her great-grandmother’s 90th birthday-Kenji receives a cryptic coded message on his phone from an unknown sender daring him to solve it. He cracks the puzzle easily, unaware that his mathematical skill has just put the entire planet at risk.
