Rascal the Raccoon - S01
Life in Brailsford Junction, Wisconsin, is peaceful and uncomplicated for Sterling North, a boy who spends much of his time looking after animals. With his mother in the hospital and his brother away at war, he lives alone with his father and his dog, Hauser. One weekend, Sterling takes a break from his usual chores and sets out on a fishing trip with his friend Oscar and Hauser. Along the way, his dog picks up a scent near a tree. Digging around, the boys uncover a raccoon's nest and find a lone orphaned kit. A hunter had killed its mother for her fur, leaving Sterling to take the young raccoon in and raise it. Struggling with his family falling apart-his brother in the trenches and his mother sick-Sterling finds comfort and connection in caring for his mischievous new companion. He names the raccoon Rascal, a "ring-tailed wonder" who becomes a source of joy in his life.
