Orb: On the Movements of the Earth - S01

Twelve-year-old Rafal is a prodigy who prides himself on living by reason alone, believing this is the path to earning society's respect. In early 15th century Poland, where theology is the most revered field of study, he publicly declares his intention to master it. But after meeting a strange man, Rafal finds himself inexplicably drawn to his true passion-astronomy-despite its clash with his carefully reasoned plans. Now obsessed with proving the truth of heliocentrism-the idea that the Earth orbits the Sun-Rafal faces an impossible challenge. The Church enforces geocentrism, the belief that the Sun revolves around the Earth, as the only acceptable truth, and those who defy it face brutal punishment. To gather evidence for his theory, Rafal must refine his calculations and develop his ideas in secret, always one misstep away from sharing the grim fate of other so-called heretics.
