Gaku Kitada has loved math since he was a child. As a student at the elite Wels Academy, he dreamed of qualifying for the Mathematics Olympiad, earning a spot at the University of Tokyo, and becoming a renowned mathematician. But his ambitions fall apart when his anxiety and self-doubt cause him to fail the Olympiad qualifiers. After refusing to compete again, he’s expelled from the academy. At his lowest point, Gaku crosses paths with Kai Asakura, a professional chef with an unorthodox approach to cooking. Kai notices Gaku’s unique style-using math to craft dishes where flavors blend perfectly. Though hesitant at first, Gaku slowly rediscovers his passion for numbers by applying them to cooking. Intrigued by this new direction, he shifts his focus from pure mathematics to a career where he can merge logic with taste, solving problems that challenge both his intellect and his customers’ appetites.
