Sparkling Red Star
Based on Li Xintian’s novel of the same name, the animated film "Sparkling Red Star" tells a touching and vibrant patriotic story set in 1930s China. Directed by Lam Chiu Yin-known for films like "Naked Ambition" and "Love on the Rocks"-this marks a notable shift from his usual style, focusing on the adventures of a young boy. Dongzi, a playful village child, grows up during turbulent times, idolizing his father, a courageous Red Army soldier, and the Red Guards who defend their village from a cruel landlord. When his father leaves to join the Long March, he gives Dongzi a sparkling red star. Over the years, this star becomes a symbol of strength for Dongzi as he faces hardships and matures amid the upheavals of wartime China.
