Robby the Rascal
"Cybot Robotchi," released in the U.S. as "Robby the Rascal," is a 39-episode anime series created by Ken Ishikawa and produced by Dynamic Productions (founded by Go Nagai) and the Knack animation studio. It originally aired on TV Tokyo from October 1982 to June 1983. Key staff included storyboard artist Tetsuro Amino and episode director Masayuki Kojima. In 1985, an English-dubbed movie version, "Robby the Rascal," was released on home video in the U.S. by Jim Terry's Kidpix Productions. This edit combined multiple episodes but removed much of the risqué humor-common in Japanese children's shows but deemed inappropriate for American audiences-often involving the character Sachiko, a policewoman subjected to fan service. The full series aired in Italy as "Robottino," and some episodes were also dubbed in Spanish as "Robotete."
