Nightsong of Splendor - S01

The story is set in Tokyo during August and September of 1923, a city of stark contrasts-where tradition clashes with modernity, wealth with poverty, and virtue with vice. Horse-drawn carts share the streets with automobiles, swords with pistols, aristocrats with businessmen. A woman of high society becomes drawn to Taka, a striking young man who, along with his younger brother, appears to have reluctant ties to the criminal underworld. When her maid, Sara, also encounters him, a tense and fateful rivalry unfolds, spiraling toward tragedy, passion, and disgrace. As time moves forward, an ominous date looms-September 1, 1923, at 11:58 AM-when the Great Kanto Earthquake and tsunami will strike, claiming nearly 100,000 lives in one of history’s most devastating calamities.
