There, he reunites with his childhood friend Yuni Kuroba, a member of the Monshiro Middle School Boys' Volleyball Team, who doesn’t realize his own potential. Haijima sees Kuroba’s skill and decides to build a new team around him as the ace. But during the prefectural tournament, Kuroba buckles under pressure, costing Monshiro the match and tearing the team apart. The loss drives a wedge between Haijima and Kuroba, leading Haijima to quit. Now in high school at Seiin, the two find themselves on the same team again. Haijima, having learned from his past, helps Kuroba conquer his nerves and grow into the ace the team needs to reach the prefectural championship. Backed by captain Shinichirou Oda and vice captain Misao Aoki, Seiin sets its sights on defeating Fukuho Technical High School, Fukui’s reigning champions, to earn a spot in the Spring Tournament. Can Haijima’s team break the cycle of defeat, or will history repeat itself?
