The Barsburg Empire's Military Academy trains elite soldiers who secure victories for the empire. Students there wield an ability called "Zaiphon" in battle, though the type each can use depends on their individual nature. Teito Klein, one of the academy's most promising students, bears the stigma of being a "sklave"-a slave with no memories of his past. Despite the scorn of his peers, he finds friendship in Mikage, another student. While preparing for his final exam, Teito stumbles upon a dark secret tied to his forgotten history. After a failed attempt to assassinate Ayanami, the high-ranking officer who murdered his father, Teito is imprisoned and sentenced to punishment. Determined to protect him, Mikage helps Teito escape. He finds refuge in the 7th District Church, sheltered by its bishops. Now, Teito must stay ahead of Ayanami and the Military while piecing together his lost memories-and uncovering why he alone holds the power to alter the world's fate.
