Ayumu Tanaka, a middle school kendo champion, starts high school with an unexpected choice-instead of joining the Kendo Club, he signs up for the unofficial Shogi Club. His reason is simple: he fell for the club’s president and only member, Urushi Yaotome, at first sight, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get close to her. But Ayumu sets one condition-he won’t confess his feelings until he can beat her in a fair shogi match. This proves to be a tough challenge, since Urushi is far more skilled at shogi and easily reads his every move.
