Thermae Romae - S01

Lucius Modestus, an architect in ancient Rome, struggles to find work after running out of fresh ideas. His gloomy mood worries his friends, who take him to a bathhouse to help him relax. Overwhelmed by the noisy crowd, Lucius submerges his head underwater-only to discover a hidden passage that leads him to a modern Japanese bathhouse. The experience sparks his creativity, giving him the inspiration he desperately needed. Armed with knowledge far beyond his time, Lucius attempts to recreate what he saw, though his limited resources often result in rough imitations. Still, the sheer originality of his designs might just catch the public’s eye and restore his reputation as a visionary architect.
