The Story of Saiunkoku - S02

Shuurei Kou and her friend Eigetsu To, a talented but lowborn young man, have been named joint governors of Sa province, one of Saiunkoku's eight regions. They plan to transform the province into a center of learning, hoping to finally bring prosperity to the neglected area. While Shuurei travels to the capital to secure approval for their ambitious project, a sudden outbreak of disease threatens the fragile peace in Sa province. As illness spreads, bringing death and unrest, Shuurei entrusts Eigetsu with managing the crisis in her absence while she seeks aid and a cure. But Eigetsu's own unresolved struggles divert his attention, leaving an opening for Shuurei's political enemies to exploit the chaos and weaken her position. Becoming an official was Shuurei's greatest ambition, but as the first woman to hold such a role, the path is far from smooth. Now, faced with mounting challenges, she must decide whether to rise to the occasion or yield to the growing pressures around her.
