In the near future, Humanoids-advanced machines with artificial intelligence and human-like personalities, identifiable by their sideways pupils-make up 10 percent of the population. These specialized beings require specialized care, which Dr. Hikaru Sudou provides by day at his clinic. At night, operating under the alias Moggadeet, he carries out illegal procedures while searching for clues about his missing mother. Hikaru treats a range of patients in this evolving society: a Humanoid grappling with whether she and her backup data are the same person, a teenage Humanoid unable to improve in sports, even a robot teddy bear carrying memories from past owners. As technology progresses, the line between human and Humanoid blurs, raising increasingly complex questions about identity and what it truly means to be alive.
