The Case Study of Vanitas - S01

Vanitas and Noé Archiviste travel to the town of Gévaudan to hunt down the "Beast," a massive wolf-like creature responsible for countless deaths. Believing the Beast is a vampire afflicted by a curse, Vanitas plans to use his grimoire's power to save it. During their journey, they are separated and unexpectedly thrown back in time-right as the Beast prowls the woods. After fighting both the monstrous wolf and a vampire hunter, Vanitas joins forces with Jeanne to locate Noé. Though they work together, Jeanne's mission clashes with Vanitas'; she has been ordered to kill the Beast, which she suspects may be someone from her past. Meanwhile, a badly injured Noé is found by the enigmatic Chloé d'Apchier and her servant. Like Noé, Chloé is a vampire whose existence has been wiped from history. She once sought a way to become human and has since acted as a guardian for future generations. While Noé appreciates her kindness, he remains unaware that Chloé may be aligned with threats even more perilous than the Beast.
