Shin Hakkenden - S01

Inspired by the classic Japanese novel "Nanso Satomi Hakkenden" by Kyokutei Bakin (1767),this story reimagines the tale in a futuristic setting. A war once raged in heaven over control of the eight moons created by the savior Fuse, which orbit God’s land. After the conflict, only the Oowari family remained in power, their sole heir claiming dominion over all but one moon-Meiten, the pope’s moon, whose people rejected war and were spared its consequences. Eight individuals, each hailing from one of these moons and bearing a jewel that represents an element of Earth, are destined to save humanity. Having sacrificed much for their jewels, they remain steadfast in their duty to Queen Fuse, who entrusted them with this mission. But when the mad emperor Kai seeks to resurrect a vengeful spirit intent on stopping Earth’s restoration, the eight must wield their jewel-given powers to forge a new world and defeat those who oppose it. Their journey leads them to Kusanagi, a ship at the heart of God’s land, where they must unite their jewels within the key known as Yatsufusa to bring Earth into existence.
