Saikano - S01

Before Chise was turned into the "ultimate weapon," there was Lieutenant Mizuki. A seasoned soldier, she signed up for an experimental procedure after her injuries ended her frontline career. As the first prototype weapon, Mizuki proved devastating in battle, but her abilities had clear limits. When Chise-a girl deemed better suited for the role-is drafted into the military, Mizuki dismisses her as naive, fragile, and unfit for combat. Yet as the only other person who has undergone the same transformation, Mizuki can hear Chise’s thoughts, making her the sole person who truly understands her. Through the chaos of war and Chise’s growing power, Mizuki begins to uncover deeper truths about Chise, the nature of ultimate weapons, and even herself.
