Requiem from the Darkness - S01

Struggling writer Momosuke Yamaoka travels across Edo-period Japan, gathering ghost stories in hopes of reviving his failing career. During his journey, he ventures deep into the mountains and meets a monk named Mataichi. Ignoring the monk’s warning to turn back, Momosuke presses on and witnesses Mataichi and his two accomplices commit a murder. He soon learns that the trio investigates supernatural events-punishing the guilty with death. As Momosuke continues hunting for material, he keeps running into the three outlaws, getting drawn deeper into their violent missions. With each encounter, he edges closer to the shadows, questioning the morality of their deeds and the blurred boundary between humanity and the supernatural.
