Teruaki "Teru" Nakamura moves from Tokyo to Okinawa and is surprised when he grows close to his lively classmate Hina Kyan, who goes out of her way to make him feel welcome at his new school. The only problem is that Hina speaks in a thick Okinawan dialect, leaving Teru struggling to keep up. Still, Hina enthusiastically shares the island's rich culture with him. Luckily, Hina's best friend Kana Higa steps in to help translate and even offers to teach Teru some local phrases. But Kana has an ulterior motive-she's developed feelings for Teru and uses this chance to get closer to him. As the three spend more time together, each unaware of the others' emotions, Teru slowly adapts to his new life, finding warmth in his friendships and the beauty of Okinawa.
