My Neighbor Totoro
In 1950s Japan, Tatsuo Kusakabe moves with his two daughters, Satsuki and Mei, to the countryside to be near their mother, who is in the hospital with a long-term illness. As the girls adjust to rural life, Mei spots a small, rabbit-like creature in the yard one day. Following it into the forest, she discovers "Totoro"-a giant, magical forest spirit who quickly becomes her friend. Soon after, Satsuki also meets Totoro, and the sisters find their ordinary lives transformed by wondrous encounters with nature and the mystical beings of the woods.
