Humanity won a war against an alien race called the Usurpers by using combat androids known as Neans. After the war, humans colonized Mars and settled into peace, while the Neans, no longer needed as soldiers, became laborers treated as second-class citizens. The androids rely on a daily supply of Nectar from their human masters to survive. Among them exist rare, independent androids called Proto-Neans, capable of summoning powerful metal exoskeletons. Rouge Redstar is one such Proto-Nean, secretly working for Aletheia, the government agency that controls Neans, alongside her human partner, Naomi Orthmann. Their task is to hunt down the Immortal Nine-rogue Proto-Neans who target humans for unknown reasons. Meanwhile, an investigator arrives on Mars to pursue a string of murders, with Rouge as the main suspect. As Rouge and Naomi dig deeper into the Immortal Nine’s motives, they uncover startling truths about both the rogue androids and the organization they serve.
