Mai Mai Miracle
The story takes place in 1955 in Kokuga, a town in Hofu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. A thousand years ago, this area was home to the ancient capital of Suo no Kuni, and remnants of the Heian Period (794-1185) still linger in the form of ruins and old place names. The main character is Shinko, a third-grade elementary school student born into one of the town’s long-standing families. She’s a cheerful girl with a distinctive curl on her forehead-which she calls her "Mai Mai"-and a love for playing in the fields. But her real passion is daydreaming about life a thousand years ago, letting her imagination wander back to the Heian Period. One day, a new girl named Kiiko transfers from Tokyo into Shinko’s class. Struggling to adjust to small-town life, Kiiko slowly grows closer to Shinko. Before long, the two find themselves caught up in a mysterious event tied to the distant past...?
