Ippon Again! - S01

Michi Sonoda, always cheerful and carefree, tells her teammate Sanae Takigawa that she’s quitting judo for good after their last middle school tournament. Sanae is stunned-after all, it was Michi’s enthusiasm that drew her into the sport in the first place. Michi insists that a fulfilling youth should involve things like finding a boyfriend, not spending hours on sweaty tatami mats. But Michi’s hopes of ending her judo career with a triumphant final match are dashed when she suffers a humiliating loss to the skilled Towa Hiura. Things get even more complicated when she learns Towa has enrolled at the same high school as her and Sanae. With her old rival suddenly back in her life, Michi might just discover that her connection to judo isn’t so easily severed.
