In the decisive race against the Kanagawa street racing team Sidewinder, Project D’s Takumi Fujiwara finds himself up against an unexpected rival: Shinji Inui, a 17-year-old high school student. Having started driving at a young age, Shinji knows the mountain pass where the race unfolds inside out-and he pilots a Toyota AE86, the same model as Takumi’s. At first, Shinji hesitates to join, lacking any real drive-until he sees the intense showdown between Keisuke Takahashi and Gou Houjou. With an unbeaten record on his home turf, the Tsubaki Line, Shinji could be Takumi’s toughest challenge so far.
