High above Earth, hidden from human sight, lies the Heavens-a realm of floating islands upheld by the magic of their godlike rulers. Their power comes from a mysterious energy called Akuto, but this resource is dwindling fast. Facing an impending crisis, most of the heavenly kingdoms agree to ration their Akuto, all except one: the Magical Kingdom. Its ruler, the Magical King Munto, is convinced that Akuto can be restored if he finds a certain girl on Earth-a vision granted to him by a seer. As Munto embarks on his perilous journey, rival kingdoms plot to crush the Magical Kingdom and seize its remaining Akuto for themselves. Meanwhile, on Earth, Yumemi Hidaka struggles with her own troubles. She sees floating islands in the sky, invisible to everyone else. Though her best friend Ichiko Ono believes her, Yumemi fears she might be losing her mind. When Munto appears before her, she dismisses him as another hallucination. Her focus is on Suzume Imamura, her 13-year-old friend who’s planning to run away with her delinquent boyfriend. With the Magical Kingdom teetering on the brink of collapse, Munto’s mission to save both the Heavens and Earth grows more urgent by the hour.
