Great Pretender - S01

Makoto Edamura has fallen into a life of crime, surviving as a pickpocket and scam artist. But after tricking what he thought was a gullible tourist, he learns the tables have been turned-he was the one conned, and now the police are on his tail. During his escape, he crosses paths with the tourist again, who reveals himself as Laurent Thierry, a fellow swindler. Drawn into Laurent’s world, Makoto follows him to Los Angeles. Determined to prove himself as "Japan’s Greatest Swindler," he challenges Laurent to a contest to see who’s the better con artist. Laurent agrees, leading them to a sprawling mansion with a daunting target: the most powerful mafia boss on the West Coast. As Makoto gets deeper into Laurent’s schemes, meeting his eccentric crew and navigating the dangerous world of high-stakes fraud, he starts to question whether he’s truly as skilled as he believed-or if he’s in way over his head.
