When Mikan hears disturbing rumors about the academy’s cruel treatment of students, she panics and runs away to find Hotaru. Once there, Mikan learns about "Alices," people born with extraordinary powers, and that the academy is a government-run facility designed to train and safeguard them. To her surprise, she discovers she has her own hidden ability and enrolls in the school. After overcoming numerous obstacles, she finally reunites with Hotaru. Gakuen Alice is a lighthearted yet touching story about Mikan and her friends navigating life at the academy while unraveling the secrets surrounding Natsume Hyuuga, a troubled student with dangerous fire-based powers.
