Folktales from Japan - S04
Just like children everywhere, Japanese kids grow up hearing the same beloved tales from their parents and grandparents-stories of a boy born from a peach, a moon princess found inside a bamboo stalk, or an old man who brings a dead cherry tree back to life. These simple yet meaningful tales teach lessons about life’s joys and hardships, passing down traditional values through generations. "Folktales from Japan" presents three self-contained stories in each half-hour episode, blending well-known favorites with lesser-known gems. Many of these tales come from Tohoku, a northern region deeply affected by the 2011 earthquake, with an emphasis on heartwarming narratives. The show hopes to bring comfort to those who suffered in the disaster, offering a glimmer of hope through these timeless stories.
