A growing epidemic of severe internet addiction has left many young people dangerously dependent on the web. Those deemed beyond help are sent to Elite Reeducation Academy, a facility meant to rehabilitate them into functioning adults. Li Xiang (known as Hibiki in Japanese) is one such teenager who wakes up at the academy with no memory of how he got there. The head instructor informs him that his mother, alarmed by his increasingly hostile behavior due to his addiction, had him forcibly brought to the school. Trapped in what feels more like a prison than a school and subjected to harsh treatment by the staff, Li Xiang sees no way out. Desperate, he resolves to take his own life by jumping from the rooftop. But just as he prepares to leap, he encounters a mysterious man named Shin-who offers him a reason to keep living.
