El-Hazard: The Wanderers - S01

Makoto Mizuhara, a high school science prodigy, is working on his latest project for the school festival with his best friend, Nanami Jinnai. Meanwhile, Nanami's brother Katsuhiko-Makoto's longtime rival and the scheming student council president-is facing criticism for mismanaging the festival. Convinced Makoto is trying to take his position, Katsuhiko sneaks into the science lab one night and sabotages Makoto's device. The tampering accidentally opens a portal that sucks Makoto, Nanami, their teacher Masamichi Fujisawa, and Katsuhiko into another world. When Makoto arrives, he's immediately swarmed by giant insect monsters. Fleeing for his life, he bumps into Fujisawa and a girl named Rune Venus. Fujisawa fends off the creatures, and soon after, a group of officials arrives, revealing Rune is their princess. They explain that Makoto and Fujisawa are now in a world called El-Hazard and escort them to the kingdom of Roshtaria. Though the royal advisors distrust the newcomers, Rune insists they be treated as guests and quickly bonds with Makoto. Unaware that Nanami and Katsuhiko are also stranded in this world, Makoto begins searching for a way back home.
