The Trip
A surreal cutout-style ("kiri-gami") animated film about a young girl’s journey, both physical and emotional, as she experiences the pain and joy of life. She arrives in an unnamed Western city, a strange dreamlike world filled with imagery reminiscent of Dali, Magritte, de Chirico, and Escher. Though the trip transforms her completely, only she will understand how deeply she has changed by the time she returns home. (The film includes a poem by the renowned Chinese poet Su Tong-Po.)
