Hiyori Iki is an ordinary middle school student until a bus accident changes her life. While trying to save a stranger, she gets hurt, and afterward, her soul keeps leaving her body unexpectedly. This strange condition makes her aware of two hidden worlds existing alongside her own. During these out-of-body experiences, she meets Yato, a wandering god with no shrine or followers. Yato takes on any request for just five yen, hoping to build his reputation-and Hiyori asks him to help her return to normal.
