Kappa no Kaikata
On his way home, a young man spots a kappa in a pet shop window and impulsively buys it. He names the creature Kaatan and takes him home. Having no experience with kappa, he relies on a guidebook about raising and training them. The book makes it seem straightforward, offering useful tips for raising a well-behaved kappa. But in reality, putting those methods into practice proves much harder. Kaatan sometimes grasps what he’s taught, but more often forgets or simply doesn’t care to learn. Still, the young man refuses to give up, patiently-and perhaps pointlessly-trying to mold Kaatan into a pet he can be proud of.
