.hack//G.U. Trilogy

The film adapts the popular CyberConnect2 game ".hack//G.U." as a CG-animated movie. It follows Haseo, a player in the MMORPG "The World:R2," who was once known as the ruthless "Terror of Death" and a former member of the disbanded Twilight Brigade guild. During his adventures, Haseo encounters Azure Kite, mistaking him for the mysterious player Tri-Edge-whom he blames for the attack on his friend Shino. But Azure Kite overwhelms him, using a power called Data Drain to strip Haseo of his high-level status, reducing him to level 1 and leaving him with no gear or contacts. Stunned by the defeat, Haseo is left questioning how Azure Kite possesses such an ability and what Data Drain truly means. Later, Haseo gains the power of Skeith, an "Avatar" that grants him abilities like Data Drain. With this newfound strength, he sets out on a mission to save Shino. His search leads him to Tri-Edge, a notorious Player Killer whose victims are rumored to vanish from the game permanently. Six months before the story begins, Tri-Edge attacked Shino in the game, leaving her real-world counterpart, Shino Nanao, in a coma-a mystery Haseo is determined to solve.
