In a world where smartphone apps are part of everyday life, strange creatures called "Appmon" hide within them. These artificial intelligence beings can think and act on their own, existing somewhere between the human and digital worlds. But when a rogue AI named Leviathan infects the Appmon with the L-virus, it starts hacking systems one by one, threatening to take over the real world from inside the internet. Haru Shinkai stumbles upon the Appli Drive, a device that lets him summon Gatchmon, an Appmon born from a search app, to fight back.
