Area 88 - S01

In the sandy deserts of the Middle Eastern kingdom of Asran, Japanese photojournalist Makoto Shinjou visits the isolated airbase Area 88 to record the lives of the mercenaries who fight the nation’s wars for pay. Among them is Shin Kazama, a skilled Japanese pilot who was betrayed by his best friend and forced into a contract with Asran’s fighter squadron. This cost him his career as a commercial pilot and his future with his fiancée, Ryoko Tsugumo. To escape Area 88 and return to Japan, Shin has three options: complete three years of service, earn $1.5 million, or attempt desertion-a choice that could mean his death.
